Description

She has some more features I should explain, including her blind "evil eye"...but, I kind of ran out of time!

Second version is my version, the first was done for a contest that wanted a skullhead.

The colour red, skulls, and Tasmanian tigers are NOT copyright me.

Ayin Hara, her soul-sucking necklace, Shual and artwork ARE copyright :iconakeli: Thank you ;)

So I've spent some time wondering what kind of advice I could maybe give you on the design of this character. As others already pointed out: it looks a little crowded, especially round the front end.

I think there are basically two main issues with this design.

1. Because of all the accessories, you can't really tell that the character is a Tasmanian Tiger. She looks like a cross between a cat and a wolf, to be honest.

2. The inspiration of the outfit isn't clear to me.

Starting with the first issue: unless you want people to be in the dark about her species, I think you should reveal more of her body. Show off the stripes on her bum, and that crazy long snout. Or maybe you could slap on some clothes with the same markings just to accentuate them. And why does she have manes? Are they fake?

The second issue: your earlier designs seem to be mostly fantasy-based with lots of skulls, spikes and bones. Personally, I think this look worked quite well. It was your own design, with no real recognizable earth-equivalent from other cultures. This new design DOES seem to be based on our own human cultures. The thing is, I can't really tell which one it is. It looks like a cross between native American and African to me. And the skull mask just looks too sci-fi too me, with those big eyeballs. (The smoke around it is pretty cool, though.)

So for me that's too many cultures in one mix, especially on an Australian animal. My advice would be either go back to a fantasy-based design, or look at something more geographically related to the species. Maybe you could gain some inspiration by looking at Aboriginal art? You could warp it of course, to suit the character's background.

I hope that helps. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>
